Bogie appeared as Jake Lee, branch boss of a small airline company, in Commander Frank “Spig” Wead's post-war aviation drama Ceiling Zero.

The story focuses on the relationships of the main flight team, their romances and a tragedy that throws their lives into chaos.

Ceiling Zero debuted on Broadway in April 1935 and ran for 104 performances (it did not feature Bogie who was at the time appearing in the Broadway production of The Petrified Forest).

This Off Broadway Summer Stock engagement, featuring Bogie, played at the Lakewood Theatre in Skowhegan, Maine. The show debuted on August 12, 1935.

Ceiling Zero was later made for the silver screen by Howard Hawks, and featured Pat O'Brien in the role of Jake Lee. It also starred James Cagney and June Davis. The film is a very faithful adaption of the original stage play.
